Callum Mills - AFL Rising Star

6 Sep 2016 by Michael Shillito

The North Shore Bombers congratulate Callum Mills on being the winner of the 2016 NAB AFL Rising Star Award.
Callum began his football journey playing juniors in the North Shore area, making his way to North Shore. And it wasn’t long before his talent, skills and dedication was noticed in high places; and Callum joined the Swans Academy.
Despite being struck down by injury for much of last year, Callum continued to work hard on his development; and was rewarded when he was taken at pick 3 in last year’s draft, by far the highest draft place ever for a player from Sydney.
Making his AFL debut in the opening round this year, Callum has made every post a winner, playing 20 out of 22 games in the Seniors in his debut season.
When he was nominated for the Rising Star award, North Shore as his club of origin received some cash and equipment; and Callum was a welcome guest at Gore Hill a few weeks ago as he presented the gear to us.
Callum’s dream season continues on Saturday as he plays his first AFL final when the Swans take on the Giants at ANZ Stadium.

Congratulations to Callum – a worthy winner. His hard work rewarded.
