A few weeks ago, Swans player Callum Mills won the AFL’s Rising Star nomination. Callum was drafted to the Swans from North Shore last year.
As part of the nomination, North Shore will receive $2,500 worth of cash and equipment. This Thursday evening Callum will be returning to Mortgage Choice Oval to present the equipment to the club.
It’s exciting to see North Shore players move up to the AFL and test themselves against the best players. The Swans have two former North Shore players on their list; with both Callum and Sam Naismith playing in the seniors at the Swans in recent weeks. Sam is also likely to come to Mortage Choice Oval for the presentation.
The presentation will take place in the clubhouse at Mortgage Choice Oval after training as part of the regular Thursday night dinner. Players who are at Mortgage Choice Oval for training on Thursday evening are encouraged to stay for the presentation. We invite all supporters to also come along for dinner and see the presentation; and congratulate Callum on his achievements at the Swans this season.
Playing for North Shore can be part of the pathway to the elite level; as we’ve seen with both Callum Mills and Sam Naismith. For an aspirational AFL player, the opportunities exist to walk in their footsteps.
