Ryan Hebron & Matt Wilson Selected for Draft Combine

4 Aug 2016 by Michael Shillito

North Shore has a long and proud history of players going on to play at the elite level, and two more North Shore players have a great opportunity in front of them.
Ryan Hebron and Matt Wilson have both been selected to take part in the AFL’s State Draft Combine.
It’s an opportunity to showcase their abilities before the AFL’s talent scouts; to be screened by clubs and present their case for why they should be drafted into the AFL.
Ryan and Matt are two of six players from NSW/ACT to be selected; and it’s another strong showing from North Shore that one third of the state’s total intake comes from our club.
Both Ryan and Matt are currently listed with the Swans Academy. Depending on what happens with the Combine, along with their games for the Swans NEAFL team and at North Shore; the Swans may nominate them pre-draft. That would mean that if another club was to bid for them during the draft, it would enable the Swans to match that bid.
To be listed at AFL level is still a long way off, and there’s some more hoops to jump through. But it’s a big step along the way.
Congratulations to both Ryan and Matt; and we look forward to hearing of their progress at the Draft Combine.
