Game Day - Saturday 27th July
26 Jul by Michael Shillito
Five rounds to go till the finals, and we’re in the run-home now. All 12 of our teams are in action this weekend; with five teams at home at Gore Hill and seven on the road. Our Mens Seniors are at Picken Oval to take on the Magpies, while the Womens Seniors travel to Gipps Road to take on the Goannas.
This week’s team selections are now online on the website and Team App. Congratulations to everyone who will be pulling on the black and red guernsey this weekend. It is an honour, and we hope you will wear the jumper with pride and put in the best effort you can, play some great footy in the right spirit of the game.
Apologies for the delay in getting the teams up. At this stage of the season it takes time to finalise them; and with a physio appointment after work (my ankle is slowly coming good but it’s taking time and I’m still on the crutches for a while longer) plus train delays getting home from the City, I haven’t been able to put them up till now.
The following weekend, on 3rd August, is Back to Bears Day. The history of the North Shore footy club goes all the way back to 1903, and some great players have worn the North Shore jumper in seasons past. We welcome back some North Shore legends of yesteryear, who will reminisce, catch up with mates and tell the tall stories of seasons past. We’ll be welcoming back many of our 2004 premiership sides for their 20-year reunion. We hope as many of you as possible can come along to Gore Hill at some point during the day and be a part of it.
As a community sporting club, we rely heavily on volunteers to get tasks done on game day. Most of them aren’t hard, but we need them to be done. If you’re rostered on for duties, please turn up with a smile and help out. It’s those who put the most effort into this club that get the most out of it.
Have a great weekend everyone. And Up the Mighty Bombers!!
