Welcome to 2017 at North Shore

11 Jan 2017 by Michael Shillito

Welcome to 2017! The festive time has come and gone, and now it’s time to get back into the swing of footy and prepare for the season to come.
Pre-season training resumes on Thursday 12th January at Mortgage Choice Oval. It’s important that you attend as many training sessions as you can. Building up your fitness and your skills will go a long way towards making your 2017 footy season a successful one. And with a solid pre-season under your belt, you’ll surprise yourself with how good your footy can be.
North Shore will be fielding seven teams in 2017. We’ll have Seniors and Reserves teams, for the elite-level top players. We’ll be fielding Thirds and Fourths teams, enabling greater opportunities to play the game. We’ll have two Under 19s teams, looking to continue our strong record in recent seasons of developing talented young players. And for the first time, we’ll have a Womens team.

We’ve had some great numbers at the pre-season training sessions before Christmas, but there’s room for more. If you’d like to play, it’s not too late; but the sooner you can get your training program under way the better.
If you’re interested in playing for North Shore in 2017, drop us a line at northshorefc@yahoo.com.au and come along to training. Whether you’re an experienced player or never played before but would like to have a go, we’ll have a team for you.
You’ll find at North Shore a friendly club. We have coaches and resources to help you, should you be willing to put in the effort, to become the best footballers you can be. There are many opportunities in our game, and coming through North Shore is a great way to access those opportunities. Current AFL-listed players Callum Mills and Sam Naismith (Swans) and Ryan Davis (Gold Coast) have come through North Shore.

North Shore have high hopes for 2017. Our Under 19s Division One team won the premiership last year, our Reserves made the Grand Final and our Seniors and Thirds were only one game short of the Grand Final. We’re keen to go even better in 2017.

Senior Coach Ryan Meldrum, preparing for his second season at the helm, is looking forward to seeing what 2017 has in store.
“The North Shore club in 2016 was a great place to be around both on and off the field. Our plan for 2017 is to continue developing our players, performing well and having a great time socially. We thank all the existing players for committing to us for the season and welcome all the new players who have joined North Shore.”

Happy New Year to you all. We’re excited at the possibilities that 2017 has for North Shore. Get on board and enjoy the ride!
