North Shore Women's Footy Launch - November 3

25 Oct 2016 by Michael Shillito

A new chapter in the history of North Shore commences on Thursday 3rd November, as the club launches its Women’s AFL program with its “Come & Try” Event.
Peter Gurry, Director of Women’s Football at North Shore, believes that this is a really important initiative, “The club is excited to extend its focus on developing AFL in the region to providing opportunities for women to play. Junior girls AFL has really taken off in the area over the last 5 years and this program will provide a pathway for those girls to continue to play once they leave school.”
The event will begin with an hour on the oval. It’s a chance to experience AFL with drills designed for fun and aimed at the beginner level so everyone can join in. Following this dinner will be served in the clubhouse. This is an opportunity to get to know the club and hear from North Shore and guest speakers, including the Willoughby mayor and 1 Women’s AFL draft pick (Nicola Barr).
Women of all ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you’re an experienced player of if you haven’t played before but would love to have a go, you’ll be more than welcome. If you’re considering playing but haven’t made your mind up, here’s a chance to “try before you buy”.
The launch will take place at Mortgage Choice Oval on Thursday 3rd November; arriving at 6:15pm for a 6:30pm start. We expect to finish about 8:30pm.
If you intend to make it along to the event please RSVP (for planning and catering purposes) to womensfooty@northshorefc.com.au.
